This vintage 1960s Japanese ceramic vase features a warm blush-pink glaze with beautifully dimensional hand-applied birds and cherry blossom branches wrapping around the body. The flowers and decorative elements were formed individually before firing, giving the surface wonderful depth and a handmade quality that photographs beautifully from every angle.
Produced for the postwar Japanese export market, the piece has that perfect mix of Japonisme, Chinoiserie-inspired decoration, and mid-century decorative charm. It feels romantic without becoming overly sweet and works beautifully styled alone or filled with simple branches or flowers.
We especially love it mixed into a more modern interior—the soft pink glaze against the dimensional botanical relief makes it feel collected rather than precious.
