Antique French Repoussé Metal Table Mirror with Green Glass Accents, c. 1900–1930

Tiny mirror, enormous personality.

Sourced in Provence, this antique tabletop mirror is one of those wonderfully imperfect little objects that makes a room feel collected rather than decorated.

The elongated oval mirror is framed by richly worked repoussé-style metal with scrolling motifs, stylized florals and small jewel-like green glass accents. Its surface has developed a beautifully muted bronze-gold patina over time, while the original-style wood backing and folding wire easel allow it to stand freely on a dresser, vanity, console or shelf.

The ornamentation has an early-20th-century European feel with touches of Art Nouveau and Moorish-inspired geometry—decorative without becoming precious.

And then there is the mirror itself: aged, foxed, scratched and beautifully imperfect. Exactly what you want from a piece that has already lived a life.

Use it as an actual dressing mirror, layer it into a vignette with perfume bottles and ceramics, or simply let it exist as a small sculptural object.

CONDITION

Good antique condition with substantial age-related patina and wear consistent with its age.

The metal surface shows oxidation, darkening and rubbing throughout. The mirror glass has visible scratching, spotting, cloudiness and foxing, giving it the beautifully aged appearance seen in the photographs.

Wear and surface marks are also present to the wooden backing and easel assembly.

These imperfections are considered part of the character and history of the piece and have intentionally not been restored away.

I found this little beauty in Provence and loved it immediately because it feels more like jewelry for a room than simply a mirror.

The green details, the old metal, the slightly mysterious decorative motifs, the imperfect glass… none of it is trying too hard.

Put it on top of a stack of books, on a vanity, in a powder room or mixed among larger pieces on a console.
