Pair of Vintage French Renaissance-Style Folding Oak Campaign Chairs with Needlepoint
Pair of Vintage French Renaissance-Style Folding Oak Campaign Chairs with Needlepoint
Couldn't load pickup availability
A wonderfully sculptural pair of folding oak campaign chairs with all the drama of Renaissance seating, softened by beautifully worked needlepoint upholstery.
The solid oak frames feature the distinctive folding X-frame construction associated with campaign and Savonarola-style seating, giving the chairs a strong architectural silhouette while allowing them to fold when needed.
Each chair is finished with needlepoint textile panels that bring warmth, pattern and a slightly romantic Old World quality to the dark oak frames. The combination feels wonderfully European — decorative without being precious, substantial without feeling heavy.
Perfect used as occasional chairs flanking a console, beside a fireplace, in an entry, bedroom or layered into a Spanish Modern interior where one older piece gives the whole room more soul.
Sold as the original pair.
The auction catalog identifies them specifically as French Renaissance-style folding oak campaign chairs with needlepoint textile. The archived auction estimate was $200–$400, and the pair sold at auction for $100 on August 30, 2026.
