A spectacular large vintage Chinoiserie mirror — sculptural, romantic and full of beautifully aged character.
Dating to approximately the 1970s–1980s, the dramatically shaped frame is wrapped in canvas and painted by hand with whimsical scenes of figures, birds, fruit, florals and imagined landscapes. A muted olive-green ground is punctuated by faded coral striping, ochre tones and softly weathered details surrounding a large beveled mirror plate.
Its scale gives it real presence, while the hand-painted surface keeps it feeling intimate and collected. Use it above a substantial console or dresser, in an entryway, bedroom or dining room, or simply let it stand alone as the focal point of a room.
