Vintage Anthony Redmile-Style Shell Encrusted Wall Mirror — USA, Late 20th Century

A gloriously over-the-top shell-encrusted mirror with exactly the kind of tropical glamour we love.

Made in the United States in the late 20th century, this substantial wall mirror features a densely layered frame composed of natural seashells surrounding a large central mirror.

Its dramatic construction and maximalist use of natural materials strongly recall the fantastical interiors and decorative objects associated with designers like Anthony Redmile and Tony Duquette, where humble materials were transformed into theatrical, highly decorative forms.

At more than three feet tall, this is not a small accent mirror. It has enough presence to anchor an entryway, powder room, dressing area, console wall or coastal-modern interior on its own.

The piece is unsigned and should therefore be considered in the manner of Anthony Redmile, rather than attributed directly to him.

CONDITION

Good vintage condition overall.

Please note:

• Minor age-appropriate wear throughout
• Natural irregularities in shell surfaces are inherent to the material

These small imperfections do not detract from the mirror’s overall visual impact.

DĒSSO NOTE

This is where coastal stops being predictable.

The shells make it tropical, but the scale and drama push it straight into old-school Hollywood Regency. We’d place it over a console, in a powder room, or against a lime washed wall and let it be the entire moment.

Due to the size and fragile shell construction, professional packing and shipping are strongly recommended. Please contact us for a shipping quote if one is not generated automatically at checkout.
