A tiny piece of wall art with an enormous amount of detail.

This vintage hand-painted ceramic tile features a rich cobalt blue ground surrounding an intricate central composition of birds, flowers, and scrolling botanical motifs. Cranes, peacocks, and fantastical birds mingle among carnations, tulips, and arabesque foliage, framed by a delicate white patterned border and vivid polychrome decoration.

The design draws from the intertwined traditions of Ottoman Iznik and Kütahya pottery and Armenian Jerusalem ceramics, where saturated cobalt blue, stylized flowers, and elaborate bird motifs became signatures of decorative tilework.

Small in scale but incredibly decorative, it works beautifully hung alone as a jewel-like accent or layered into a gallery wall with paintings, plates, and collected objects.

A small hanging attachment has already been added to the reverse, so it is ready to display.

DIMENSIONS

Approximately:

4" × 4" × 0.5" thick

Chairish lists the structured measurements as 4"W × 4"D × 0.5"H; given the object is a square tile, I’d write it more naturally in Shopify as 4" H × 4" W × 0.5" D.

CONDITION

Very good vintage condition. The current listing reports vivid glaze with no chips or losses, and notes that a small wall attachment has been added to the reverse.

Minor handmade irregularities, glaze variation, and signs of age may be present and are part of the character of the piece.

DĒSSO NOTE
We source vintage pieces for their craftsmanship, history, and beautifully imperfect character. Small variations and signs of age are part of what make each piece unique.
