Vintage Bordallo Pinheiro Double Fish Platter — White Portuguese Majolica, 15.5"

Two fish. One platter. Zero subtlety.
This vintage Bordallo Pinheiro serving platter is molded as a pair of opposing fish, their bodies overlapping across a large oval form with tails extending dramatically from each side.
Finished in glossy antique white, the monochrome glaze lets the relief do all the work: deeply molded scales, fins, expressive faces, and wonderfully exaggerated fish details that feel almost sculptural.
The surface has a soft pearlescent quality in places, giving the white glaze depth without distracting from the form.
At approximately 15.5" × 11", this is a substantial serving piece — large enough for seafood, whole fish, oysters, shellfish, crudités, or a generous apéro spread.
And honestly, it is just as good standing upright on a shelf or displayed on a wall when it is not being used.
Made in Portugal by Bordallo Pinheiro and marked to the underside.
The original seller dates the piece to the 1970s; I would describe that as seller-attributed rather than definitive. Poshmark

DĒSSO NOTE
Bordallo making two fish stare at each other across a serving platter is exactly why I keep buying Portuguese ceramics.
Use it for seafood, olives, oysters, or a completely unnecessary amount of apéro.
Or prop it on a shelf and let it be weird and fabulous full-time.
