Vintage Spanish Deep Blue Terracotta & Rattan Floor Vessel

A commanding vintage terracotta floor vessel finished in an intense Majorelle-inspired cobalt blue glaze and enveloped in a hand-tied natural rattan lattice. The woven exterior softens the saturated ceramic beneath, creating a beautiful dialogue between brilliant color, earthy texture and Mediterranean craftsmanship.

Substantial in both scale and presence, the vessel works beautifully as an architectural floor piece, an oversized vase or a sculptural anchor within a collected interior. Style it alone or fill it with tall dried branches, palms or grasses. Because the interior has not been tested for water resistance, we recommend using a liner for fresh botanicals.

Discovered in the South Florida winter home of a European couple, the vessel is attributed to mid-century Spanish or Mediterranean production. No maker’s mark has been identified.

The sculptural silhouette, vibrant glaze and natural woven exterior make this a particularly expressive example of Mediterranean artisanal design.
