The pineapple understood the assignment.
This vintage Olfaire Portugal serving dish is sculpted entirely in the form of a pineapple, with richly textured golden-yellow fruit and dimensional green leaves framing both ends.
The deeply molded surface gives the glaze beautiful variation, with darker tones settling into every little crevice of the pineapple pattern. The glossy green crown includes openwork details at the top, while the opposite end finishes with another cluster of molded leaves.
Made in Portugal and marked Olfaire 6722, it has exactly the playful, dimensional quality that makes vintage Portuguese pottery so good.
Originally designed as a small serving dish, it is perfect for olives, nuts, cheeses, sliced citrus, candies, little apéro bites, or as a catchall on a bar or kitchen counter.
And when it isn’t being used? Prop it upright on an open shelf and let the pineapple do what pineapples have apparently been doing in interiors for centuries: make itself at home.
Sold individually. Two matching dishes currently available.
