Wine storage, but much prettier.
This vintage Portuguese woven basket was originally designed as a six-bottle wine carrier, with individual woven dividers that keep each bottle upright and a beautifully oversized arched handle for carrying.
Handwoven in natural willow or wicker, it has the warm honeyed tone, uneven texture and beautifully imperfect construction that only gets better with age.
The best part? You absolutely do not need six bottles of wine to justify it.
Use it beside a kitchen island for bottles, fill the compartments with rolled napkins and utensils for entertaining, use it for flowers or herbs, bring it to a picnic, or simply leave it empty on an open shelf because the construction itself is beautiful.
Its original black MADE IN PORTUGAL label remains attached to the side.
European country-house utility at its best: practical, handmade-looking and much too pretty to hide in a cabinet.

CONDITION
Good vintage condition with expected age-related character.
The wicker shows natural variations in color, small surface marks, occasional broken or projecting ends and minor wear to the weave consistent with age and use. The handle and six interior dividers appear structurally intact in the photographs.
The irregularity is part of what gives this piece its rustic character; it is not a newly manufactured uniform basket.
Please review all photographs closely for condition.
DĒSSO NOTE
This is exactly the kind of utilitarian European object I love finding.
Yes, it holds six bottles of wine — already a strong argument.
But I would also use it on a kitchen counter with linens, wooden utensils and bottles tucked into the individual sections. Functional storage that actually makes the room prettier.
