Vintage Swedish Upholstered Rocking Chair — Scandinavian Modern

A beautifully understated vintage Swedish upholstered rocking chair combining Scandinavian simplicity with the kind of comfort that makes you actually want to use it.

The sculptural wood frame and gently curved rockers give the chair a clean, architectural silhouette, while the upholstered seat and back soften the piece and make it ideal for everyday lounging.

Its proportions and restraint are quintessentially Scandinavian: functional, warm and quietly handsome rather than overly decorative.

Perfect in a reading corner, bedroom, nursery, den or living room — especially mixed into a more contemporary interior where the wood and vintage character can stand on their own.

The auction house identifies the piece as Swedish. Maker is unknown.

CONDITION

Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear consistent with prior use.

Expect natural variation and minor surface wear to the wood frame, along with normal vintage wear to the upholstery. Please refer closely to photographs for the condition of the specific chair.

DĒSSO NOTE

The chair you put somewhere intending it to look pretty… and then accidentally sit in every day.

We love the contrast between the clean Scandinavian frame and the softness of the upholstery. It works beautifully next to a floor lamp and a pile of books, tucked into a bedroom corner, or as the slightly unexpected chair in an otherwise modern living room.
